Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a medical system used to diagnose, treat and prevent illness and improve general well being.  It can be used to treat acute or chronic ailments, relieve pain, enhance the body’s own natural healing power and strengthen the immune system.

There is a vital force or life energy that flows through all living beings.   This energy the Chinese call “Qi” (pronounced “chee”).  Acupuncture uses extremely fine stainless steel needles to correct energy imbalances and regulate the flow of Qi.  Because the needles are almost as thin as a hair, there is very little pain.

Some conditions acupuncture treats:
Allergies, Colds/Flu, Headaches, Migraines, Sports and other injuries, Asthma, Back and Neck Pain, Addictions, Gastro-Intestinal Pain, Stress, Anxiety, Fatigue and more.

The number of acupuncture treatments needed will depend on the condition being treated – chronic long time illness often requires more treatments.

During time of treatment, the patient and practitioner become a team working toward the same goal. And, after recovery, acupuncture every two or three months will maintain health.

Chinese herbal medicine

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Herbal Medicine is equally important in treatment to Acupuncture.  Chinese  herbal formulas contain six to twenty herbs to treat not only the symptoms, but to also re-harmonize the whole body and treat the entire disease.  Chinese herbs are effective for most illnesses and are used with acupuncture for the best effect.

The beneficial effects of  herbs are usually noticed within a few days – more gradually than pharmaceutical drugs and with far fewer side effects. Herbs and pharmaceutical drugs may, in many instances, be taken the same day, however, it is best to allow a couple of hours in between the herbs and drugs so that each can have time to work in the system and provide the full benefit.
