*In September of 2002, I had just finished a playing gig with my band and was lifting my steel guitar into the trunk of my car. As it turns out, I lifted it with my back instead of my legs. The pain in my back got progressively worse over the course of the next months. When I turned a certain way, it felt like somebody had hooked 220 volts to my spine. I went to a chiropractor to see if I could get relief. He took an X-ray of my spine and told me that my spine was so crooked, they would have to fuse my back, and I would never walk the same.
